The Ocean Isle Beach Fire Department is located on Causeway Drive near the center of town. Robert Yoho, Jr. is the current fire chief. The sheriff’s office is actually run by Brunswick County. The current sheriff is John Ingram. The police department runs a lot of prevention programs, including DARE to Keep Kids Off Drugs and other school-based programs. It is also responsible for many community events throughout the year, as well as giving out gun permits and offering information on convicted sex offenders in the area. The main sheriff’s office is located in Bolivia, NC.
One of the main emergency concerns in Sunset Beach, NC is that of the hurricane. Sometimes these can occur more than once in a year, and sometimes they don’t cause many problems at all.
